Hiroshige Cherry Blossoms
Boxed Notecards
Utagawa Hiroshige (Japan, 1797-1858)

The woodblock-print series "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" captured the city’s people and places in bold compositions juxtaposing foreground elements with distant scenic views. They mark the swan song of an artistic era in Japan; near the end of Hiroshige’s life, the country opened to the West, and photography and Western influences overwhelmed Japan’s traditional styles.

The Brooklyn Museum holds a collection of Hiroshige’s prints from the "One Hundred Views of Edo" series. The four reproduced in this notecard collection highlight Tokyo’s famous cherry blossoms.

Twenty 5" x 7" blank notecards (five each of four styles) with white envelopes in a decorative box.
