This lavish 256 page publication with five essays accompanies the exhibition: Utagawa: Masters of the Japanese Print, 1770-1900. This beautiful catalog features more than 200 color prints by Utagawa school artists who painted during primarily during the second half of the 18th century into the early 19th century in Edo (now called Tokyo). These artists including Hiroshige, Kunisada, and Kuniyoshi, painted every genre of ukiyo-e prints or “pictures of the floating world” featuring images of kabuki actors, warriors, beautiful women, and erotica and landscape paintings.
