Egyptian Flying Bird Earrings
Emile Prisse D'Avennes, the preeminent orientalist, labored fifteen years to compile one of the most complete records on ancient egypt: Monuments Egyptiens, Bas Reliefs, Peintures,Inscriptions (1847). An accomplished draftsman, engineer, and architect, D'Avennes lived in and traveled extensively throughout Egypt, recording in painstaking detail artifacts that have long since been either damaged or destroyed. These Egyptian Bird Earrings are inspired from images in D'Avennes' book in the Brooklyn Museum Library Collection, the fifth largest Art Museum Library in the nation.Matching Pin also available.
