One of the great Japanese landscape artists, Hiroshige began his last print series,
One Hundred Famous Views of Edo when he was 60 years old. Edo (modern Tokyo), is where he was born and lived his entire life. The prints in the series reflect the introspection and solitude of Hiroshige's last years & are considered to be a masterpiece in the history of ukiyo-e ('pictures of the floating world').
