This book accompanies the Brooklyn Museum's presentation of The Moving Garden by Lee Mingwei. Like Lee's other work, the piece expands conventional notions of what a work of art can be, encouraging passive spectators to become active participants. The publication fully illustrates five other participatory works by Lee and includes an extended interview with the artist by curator Eugenie Tsai, recounting the genesis of Lee's various projects and his experiences carrying them out at art venues around the world. Together, his personal account and the generous selection of color images illuminate the engaging interpersonal activities at the center of Lee's artistic practice.
