By Karen A. Sherry.
Highlighting over 100 masterworks, this catalogue is the first major publication on the Museum's exceptional collection of pre-1945 American drawings. Author Karen A. Sherry begins by putting the collection in context within the broader history of graphic arts in America. Dating from the late-eighteenth century through the mid-twentieth century, these featured drawings encompass a wide range of techniques, styles, and media including pen and ink, crayon, charcoal, and pastel. More than 70 artists are represented, among them Benjamin West, John Singleton Copley, Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, and Georgia O'Keeffe.
