From the Village to Vogue: The Modernist Jewelry of Art Smith
- $6.25 for Members
This catalogue highlights the work of Arthur George "Art" Smith (American, 1917–1982), who created bold original jewelry designs from the late-1940s to the 1970s. The Brooklyn-reared modernist trained at Cooper Union and opened his first jewelry shop in Greenwich Village in 1946. Inspired by surrealism, biomorphism, and primitivism, Smith had a sculptor's sensitivity to the human form and the power of negative space.
